Sharing video works filmed over the course of two different trips to the mountains of Northern Italy, the work takes a fairy-tale form, threading together a series of encounters; a herd of white cows, mountain ibex, and the finding of Striga Pietra, a ‘hag stone’ believed to be a portal between worlds.

This work was developed during residency at Spazio 500 (Italy), where I collaborated with butoh performer Sofia Kovarich, exploring the transmutatable relation that occurs with a camera is tethered to the body. The second development was with sound artist Rebecca Bracewell, climbing a 3,538 m mountain together, and delving into bodily memory that surfaces in high altitude. Using  the camera and sound recorder as receptors for ‘pulls’ or pathways invisible to the eye, the work takes a non-linear narrative, looking at what kinds of motion and direction are offered by body, the ground and the wind.
